Earlier this week, the Washington Post outed a candidate running for election in the Virginia House of Delegates as having previously recorded herself having sex with her husband on Chaturbate. Susanna Gibson is a nurse practitioner and mother of two children who won a Democratic primary in June and is now running for election in one of Virginia’s most competitive districts.
The videos, which were consensual and featured Gibson and her husband having sex on camera and asking viewers for tips, were archived in September 2022, soon after Gibson announced her candidacy.
Susanna Gibson, a nurse practitioner running for political office as a Democrat, was just “outed” for engaging in legal, consensual sex acts WITH HER OWN HUSBAND online.

If you don’t think a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body are under attack in VA, think again.
While Republicans see this news as a boon for Republican candidate and local businessman David Owen, many others are wondering why it’s considered newsworthy enough to report on. As one Redditor put it, “I’m totally cool with politicians fucking each other with consent. It’s when they ---- the citizens without consent that’s a problem.”
Hey @washingtonpost outing a sex worker is fucked up!!! https://t.co/O26YJR6iCq

It remains to be seen what kind of effect this story will have on Gibson’s campaign — undoubtedly, though, whoever leaked it to the Washington Post did so with the intention of torpedoing her campaign. For her part, Gibson has condemned the leak as “the worst gutter politics,” telling CNN in a statement, “This is an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family. It won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me.”
